The hard-right, anti-immigration party is surging in polls ahead of elections next week.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm761tsli00043b6mbbxohhpi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Standing on the same stage as Vance Saturday, Scholz rejected the vice president\u2019s  comments and insisted that Germany would not accept foreign interference in its domestic politics.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm761tsli00053b6mozuo8vv3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cA commitment to \u2018never again\u2019 cannot be reconciled with support for the AfD,\u201d Scholz told audiences in the Bavarian capital.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm761tsli00063b6mfm4l254r@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cWe will not accept outsiders intervening in our democracy, in our elections, in the democratic formation of opinion in favour of this party,\u201d he continued, adding that that should especially not happen \u201camong friends and allies.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7625zu8000k3b6mwviy8pdr@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Scholz\u2019s center-left Social Democratic Party, as well as Germany\u2019s other mainstream parties, have ruled out working with the AfD, in a stance which has become known as a \u201cfirewall.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm761tsli00073b6m59rrbcil@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Also during his speech, Scholz predicted that the future Berlin government would ease the country\u2019s so-called debt brake, in order to spend more on defense and security.
